ARTIST STATEMENT

There is one thing that is for certain, life never stays the same. Just as the seasons change, so do we.

This collection, The Slow Season, is a series of watercolor and acrylic paintings that were all created within the past two years, after the birth of my second son. After deciding to take a pause on my corporate career, I shifted into a slower season of life to care for my family.

The transition wasn’t easy, struggling with feelings of loss of identity while in the thick of postpartum, but as time went on I truly felt that I made the right decision. As I found pockets of time to paint, my side business had become a passion and a deep form of meditation and self care. I fully fell in love with the process of creating and began welcoming the woman, wife and mother that I’m becoming.

I’m inspired by the wonderful and chaotic moments of motherhood and seek peace and calm while out exploring in nature with my sons. My painting process is highly intuitive in which I move the brush quickly with emotion, without the use of reference photos.
