Meet Kristen Laczi

Artist creating peaceful, heavenly artwork for the home

Hello and welcome — I’m Kristen Laczi, an artist living just outside Buffalo, New York. I’m so glad you’re here.

For over a decade, I worked as a corporate graphic designer. When my second son was born, I stepped away from that career to embrace a slower, more intentional season at home. Motherhood reshaped my days — and, quietly, reshaped me.

During that time, painting during nap times became a place of return. What began as a creative outlet grew into something deeper: a grounding practice, a form of meditation, and a way to reconnect with myself beyond the roles I carried. Through paint, I found stillness, reflection, and a renewed sense of purpose.

As my children have grown and stepped into their own independence, I’ve felt a clear call to step forward again — this time fully as an artist. This chapter is about rediscovering my creative voice, honoring what has shaped me, and creating work that offers comfort, peace, and presence for others.

When I’m not in the studio, I find inspiration in early mornings sipping my coffee, long walks outdoors and thoughtful conversations with fellow creatives, friends, and family.

About My Art

My work is impressionistic and deeply personal, inspired by nature, memory, and the emotional landscapes we carry within us. I create primarily with acrylics and watercolor, allowing each piece to unfold intuitively, guided by feeling rather than precision.

Many of my landscapes and seascapes are rooted in places that have left a lasting imprint on my heart. Before our second son was born, my husband and I lived on Long Island, where daily walks along the beach offered a sense of calm and grounding that continues to shape my work. More recently, inspiration comes from quiet moments of observation — noticing light, movement, and stillness while experiencing the world alongside my children.

At the heart of my practice is a desire to create artwork that feels like a deep breath or a gentle embrace. Life moves through seasons — some light, some heavy — and my hope is that each painting offers a sense of peace, comfort, and quiet reassurance, allowing small glimmers of light to emerge even in darker moments.
