2018 Goals
I can't believe that 2017 is coming to an end! As I reflect upon the past year I can't help but feel thankful with where life has taken us. Although I usually smile and say I'm ok, the past 2 years have been challenging. A year ago I was dealing with major autoimmune health issues, most likely due to the stress of moving and feeling completely alone. Today, my health is so much better and I've learned to fully let go and let God. I have a gut feeling that 2018 is going to be our best year yet as my husband and I continue to rely on each other and be open to experiencing new things.
Last year around this time, my only goal was to focus on doing things with passion or not at all. I started to say no to things that I didn't want to do and started saying yes to the things that I wanted to pursue more of. In April I re-branded this business from Hello Monday Design to my name, while also getting rid of some of my design services. Since taking the plunge into the unknown so much has changed for the better.
Next year I have high hopes to continue to grow and evolve. Below are just some of my professional and personal goals that I hope to accomplish. I realize that some of these might not get done because life can get busy, but I would absolutely love to try!
2018 Professional Goals
Create more artwork that provokes the feelings of happiness, peace & calm
Create more of a variety of artwork to round out my portfolio
Use more pastel lighter colors to portray the feeling light
Create more medium sized artwork on canvas
Find or make unique frames for works on paper
Develop a new line of home decor products
Design a new line of stationery
Host more original artwork giveaways and provide monthly freebies
Collaborate with other creatives
Separate my acrylic paintings from my watercolor work. Create a new brand for watercolor prints & patterns, geared towards children & babies.
Participate in at least one craft fair, hopefully in the Hamptons!
2018 Personal Goals
Work on communication and building better relationships.
In November I deleted Facebook and I haven't missed it at all. I always found Facebook to be a source of negativity, addiction and an online show and tell. Since I have cared less about keeping up with the Jones, I've found more happiness within my own life instead of comparing myself to others. I've grown to appreciate the little things and have been able to spend more time on the things that matter most.Be more active.
I haven't been to the gym since February when my Hashimoto's flared up. Ideally I'd like to exercise 2-3 times a week with my husband and spend more time meal planning/prepping to stay on track.Read more.
Instead of binge watching the Housewives, I'd like to read more books for pleasure. I love self development books, but often find that reading them before bed gets my mind spinning and then I can't sleep with all the ideas swirling around my head.Bring back snail mail.
Nothing makes me more excited than getting a note or card in the mail. I want to design a line of stationery for the business so hopefully that will also motivate me to get into the habit of sending out birthday cards, letters & random surprises to let someone know we're thinking of them.Pay off student loans.
This has been a goal of mine for awhile now. The numbers keep going down, but it would be a dream come true to actually pay them off this year!
Do you have any goals planned out for this year? Leave me a comment below, I'd love to know what you accomplished in 2017 and what you are planning for the year ahead!
