Golden Hour
If there is one thing that stops me dead in my tracks, it's a sunset. I'm always in awe of all the colors swirling around the sky as the sun begins to fizzle. Maybe it's the artist in me, but I just can't get enough. Our recent trip to Lido Key, Sarasota Florida, left me feeling so inspired and motivated to create a new series that embodied the feeling of warmth and relaxation.
I've noticed that I usually stick to the same color schemes, always drawn to pinks and blues. Having never really been into sparkles, shimmer or anything flashy, I took a risk and decided to give gold a try. That little shimmer seems to make these paintings complete, giving off the feeling of warmth.
At first I wasn't so sure but as the the painting neared completion, the little pops of gold were growing on me. Even my husband said he really liked them, especially the newest blue/gold seascape.
I really like where this series is going because it's slightly outside of my norm. It's exciting and motivating to keep pushing through to try new things. What do you think so far? Love the gold or hate it? Leave me a comment below, I'd love to hear your thoughts.
